A late bloomer

One of my littlest Satsuki is STILL blooming.



The small stand holds a marine seashell, worm snail, fam. Vermetidae.

Looking good. I like the composition with the shell.

May I ask a question though. Is this pot correctly corresponding to the size of the tree? In either answer (negative/positive) will you please mention the reason why, so that I can learn more?

To some extent, the answer to that is in the eye of the beholder. BUT . . . azalea tend to prefer more root room than other plants, especially in hot climates like mine (assuming it ever DOES get hot around here this summer).

Also . . . the standard pot-to-plant size ratio doesn't apply as directly to smaller mini-size bonsai as it does to larger ones.

AND . . . I like this pot. It is one of the very few dark, glossy blue pots that I like at all.

And all that said, it probably is a bit large. :-)

I think if the canopy/twigging is developed wider and fuller it would visually balance the pot better but even as is, I think it works.

This is, incidentally, the BACK of the tree, but it was where the flowers were "pointing."

Here's the front a month or so ago. Note the flower is larger back then.
