I have a shohin Ulmus parvifolia 'Seiju" that is ready for it's first pot whats a good pot and color for this tree? Also I got a Bosnian Pine that was dirt cheap so I figured it would be worth it to try. I can't seem to find any info on it and if not is there anything close to this pine that I can use the same techniques?

Any of the unglazed gray, brown, or tan pots would do OK for the elm. A light blue glaze also would work.

When would be the safest time to repot this elm as I just ordered a pot so it'll be here end of this week or early next week. Also any info on the pine?

Myself and a couple other VBS members have Bosnian Pines, Pinus heldreichii. The course, sharp needles on these things are vicious! But we pretty much manage and keep them the same as the Japanese Black pine and haven't had any issues so far. You may want to make an effort to keep the roots of your Bosnian pine a little cooler than the Japanese Black Pine. These roasting hot summers we've been having lately here in Hampton Roads, can be just plain brutal on these trees. Embarassed

Depending on where in Virginia you are (mountains or coast) it may ideally be too late to repot your elm. If your tree has a full head of green, I suggest you wait. They're tough trees, but . . .

What about if I don't cut any roots and simply just tranfer the tree into the pot-I want to do this becuase the soil it is in is very poor
