Yamadori: what should I fertilize with? Empty Yamadori: what should I fertilize with?

I have some trees that I have dug up or buyed from a nursery, that I hope will become bonsai-trees, but they need to grow! What should I fertilize with? I order things from Kaizen Bonsai sometimes and Stonelantern, do they have the products I need?

Fertilizer is pretty much all the same, at least in the US. I use a time release product similar to Osmocote called Multicote. I use it because it has trace elements. If you only have a few plants a liquid makes sense, you mix with water according to package directions and use it as you normally water your plants.

Any houseplant fertilizer with the major elements Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium and the essential trace elements will be fine. No need to buy a fertilizer with "bonsai" in the name. It will be twice as expensive as necessary.

What about regular, all purpose miracle-gro? I found a big tub of it that was on sale for like a 6th of the regular price and my trees have been growing noticeably faster since I began feeding them. Will it be okay to continue using it in the long term?

Edited for redundancy.

Miracle Gro All Purpose is what I use and about half of my trees are "collected".

Any of the MG fertilizers would be fine. I use their "tomato" fertilizer (Ridiculous name!) because it is the closest to "balanced' I can find in my area.
