satsuki identification
Hello,
When i got this one a year ago there was a wrong name on it, (Kakuo)
but what is it?
The first flowers are fully pink and the new flowers that open after a week, are white with a pink border.
On the end of the flowering period the flowers have a very thin pink border i noticed.
Pictures are from the second week of flowering, i removed earlier on already a lot of flowerbuds.
(Seidai, Miyami Mangetsu- Shugetsu- Koshien no tsuki- Kagetsu heksui- Yamato no tsuki or Koh Kou????

Re: satsuki identification
That's not an easy one. I'd rule out 'shugetsu' and 'seidai'. 'Miyama mangetsu'????????????? Hmmm....
I'm having a hard time judging the size of the flower.

Sunip,
I have this variety over the last 10 years and was told that it is a hybrid of Nuccio's Blue Moon.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
CJ

Took these two pictures of a plant named 'Miyama Mangetsu'.

I am a bit confused about it because there is also a straight away 'Mangetsu' with large blooms and a 'Mangetsu' in the nursery trade sold as a kiusianum hybrid. Now this 'Miyama Mangetsu' which is the official name appearing in the satsuki dictionary, doesn't really have kiusianum style leaves. 'Kakuo' has, but this one doesn't. Both ought to be R.indicum x R.kiusianum but different leaf genes are expressed.
'Nuccio's Blue Moon' is a large flowering hybrid from Nuccio Nurseries. It has no white center pattern and isn't similar to all these names we mentioned. It could have parented a new cultivar that is similar, you never know.
