Very nice.

The first one has a kind of "Nick Lenz" feel that I really like, and the second one with the rusty drain pipe is excellent too.

Now, you've got to find the right trees that will go with them...

A little yew some call the 'backscratcher" others "The Dancer" but is actually called "Hang Ten"... Brian will explain Suspect

This is what it looked like when collected in March 2004... somewhat different Shocked

Very nice, I have to ask, what type of soil did you use for these?

Hi Frankie, the pot was purchased for this gallery many years ago,: http://www.wensleygallery.co.uk/index.htm

I believe that artist still makes them. Surprised

Wow really beautiful. I love the one in the pipe. I have had a hard time keeping my early kusamono collection going so these provide some much needed inspiration! Thanks

Sorry for the late reply.... I use a variety of soils. all the 'alpines' have very small sharp grit mixed with very small grain Acadama.

In the Hostas I use mostly potting compost and I block the hole in the bottom! works for me! Rolling Eyes

Nice accent plants. (I think kasamono is a communicable disease spread by kissing people in Spanish houses. Cool That's the danger in using non-native words, especially Japanese. Do you really know to spell and pronounce them? "Accent plants" as term for these plants seems just fine to me, an American speaker of English.)

Anyway, I found this accent plant while golfing back in March. I took a piece and it has been flowering every since although lately it seems to have slowed down in the summer heat. I put it in a cheap bonsai pot so please excuse that. I believe its Ohio Spiderworth or Blue Jacket, Tradescantia ohiensis. It's a day flower as the blooms appear in the morning. By night time they turn to a blackish gelatinous mush (same thing happens if you touch them.)

Well I got part of the photo post. Photobucket cropped it - I''ll have to learn that system a little better.

For a change, Rob makes a good point, as a speaker of English somewhat challenged writing it. Smile

These are accent plants, not kusamono, as was pointed out in a previous thread.
