grafting branches

What can i use to seal the branches other than grafting putty around the branch when it is placed on the trunk ???? thanks in advance john

Are you asking because you don't have grafting putty or because you don't want to use grafting putty?

Grafting putty is nothing more than cut paste, so anything you use as cut paste should work. I'd tend toward something like bee's wax.

I want to graft some branches on my crabapple... i have 4 on the trunk now from dorment buds... is it best to prun the leaves in your grafting branchs or leave them to draw sap??? thank you john
