Hello Pot lover,

here are some new pot from kiln.

These are pots for flowering and fruit-bearing bonsai.

Diameter: 38 cm x 8,5 cm

This pot is for a dark red azalea. The pot should 38 cm x 36 cm x 8.5 cm are. A round bowl but would not have been as optimal.

Then I potter a round pot with different size sheets in the pot, it is indeed round, but now has more excitement.

If the azalea has been transplanted here I will publish a photo.

Im Currently taking a ceramics class for fun while i toil away with the not so fun clases in school.

I really like it and plan to continue next semester and possibly even more after that.

I would really like to begin making Bonsa pots, accent pots, slabs etc etc.

I was wondering if anyone could recomend some good books on the history of Bonsai pots, maybe the link between it and the tree, anything that has alot of good detail on pots in general.

Frost-resistance of a Pot

A bonsai pot is usually regarded as one unit, but glazed pots are composed of two different materials, which are the clay body of the pot and the glaze. The glaze, glossy or matt, ist the coating or the dress of a pot. Both the body and the glaze must match in their dilation characteristics, otherwise glaze fissures, glaze drips, blasted edges and similar glaze flaws can occur.

Let us regard the pot's body, the clay.

After potting the water must be removed from the still wet pot. A faulty drying process can destroy the pot while drying or during the first firing process.

Mechanically bound water fills the space between the single clay particles (this makes the clay homogenous, the clay particles swim).

Physically and chemically bound water envelops the clay particles with a thin surface. This water disappears only after a longer drying process (the clay particles ...

I have a multi-trunk schefflera that I want to seperate into individual pots, all in the literati style. I'm looking for 5 interesting, but odd egg-shell-like pots that all match in style, glaze and approximate size, but I want them all oriented differently. One straight up, two approximately at 45 degree angles and two almost horizontal.

Anyone currently making something that would fit this, or located where getting them shipped to me would not be overly expensive?

Hi folks,

Does anybody recognize this Hanko? I have bought three shohin pots of this potter, I like these pots very much and I really would like to know his name...

I have no idea if they are Chinese or Japanese, but my guess is they came from Asia...

This one has two stamps, so here this person worked with somebody else on this pot..

I already searched on www.bonsaipotplaza.com but without succes.

Thanks for any help!

I just inherited a potted small-leaf schefflera. It has four main leads, all looking like they would look great in Literati style. (if I spelled it wrong, it would be Iliterati ) I'm looking for some pots that look like broke shells or bowls with the base and drainage holes in different locations on the sides so I can make the pots "aim" the trunks in different directions (up, right, left, etc.)

Thanks,

forbey

Bonsai pots exist in many shapes and sizes but the vast majority of them adhere to traditional classic designs started in China. Heck even many of the designs attributed to Japan came from China and are known as "Old Crossing pots." So the question is what modern designs have the current potters devised out there to be creative and innovative. Let's see your avant guard bonsai pots. For purposes of this let's exclude accent plant pots as there are many new shapes in those small ...

I Found this pot in an Antique store, but i don´t think it is a bonsaipot because it has no drainage holes.

I think it looks a bit strange with all the small holes on the sides of the pot( they goes all around it), but not all the way through the walls. Does anyone know what kind of pot this is? I have seen a couple of these around, so it is not a rare one, I think.

Is it a bulb pot?

The measurement is about 20X15X4 cm

She dosen't currently have access to a gas kiln but hopefully again soon. I also posted a few filled pots here:
